Sacho License Agreement
The software that accompanies this license (the "Software") is supplied under a license agreement. By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using this software, you are agreeing to our terms. If you do not agree with these terms, do not download, install, purchase, or use the software.

THE Software IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
While we've done our best to ensure the Software does not crash or cause errors on our own systems, we cannot guarantee that the Software will not crash or cause errors on your system. We recommend that you back up your files regularly.
If the Software's video recording function is enabled, the Software starts and maintains an always-on video feed.
- For your privacy, enable the video recording function only on trusted computers and disable when not in use.
- Run a virus scan before enabling video functions and ensure your operating system is up-to-date.
- To avoid straining your camera, the video functionality is best paired with cameras that are made to stream 24/7.
Importing or opening files infected with malware in this Software can potentially harm your computer or breach your privacy. This risk is higher if your operating system is out-of-date. Import files only from trusted sources and ensure your operating system is up-to-date. Run a virus scan on files downloaded over the internet.
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR OR LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF WE KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE POSSIBILY OF SUCH DAMAGE.
WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER, PERIPHERAL DEVICES, SPEAKERS, EARDRUMS, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT COMES INTO ANY FORM OF CONTACT WITH THIS SOFTWARE.
WE ARE NOT LIABLE IF YOU IMPORT OR PLAY MEDIA FILES CONTAINING MALWARE IN THIS SOFTWARE, OR IF THE HOST OPERATING SYSTEM RUNNING THIS SOFTWARE CONTAINS MALWARE, AND AS A RESULT YOUR PRIVACY IS BREACHED OR YOUR COMPUTER IS DAMAGED.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT THAT YOU PAID FOR THIS SOFTWARE IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS.
Licensing
This Software is property of Ploosh the Third, LLC (the "Licensor") and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software for its advertised purposes. The exact limitations that apply depend on whether or not you have purchased a license key.
This is a license, not a sale. The intellectual property rights in the Software, including all copyrights, trademarks (such as "Sacho" and "The Songwriter's Notebook"), source code, trade secrets, patents, and other ownership rights, remain the exclusive property of the Licensor.
Permitted Use
Your purchase of a license key grants the following:
- You may install and use the Software on up to two computers per purchased license key.
- You may use the the Software for its advertised purposes (such as to record and organize musical performances).
- You may use the Software for personal, commercial, and educational purposes.
- You may distribute works created with the Software without restriction.
If you have not purchased a license key, you may use the Software to evaluate its compatibility with your computers and devices, and up until 30 days has passed after the date that you first installed the Software on the computer.
Restrictions
You may not attempt to or assist others to reverse engineer, decompile, or discover the source code or underlying components of the Software or our services, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law or the licenses of accompanying open-source components.
You may not modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the Software, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law or the licenses of accompanying open-source components.
You may not sublicense, lease, rent, or sell the Software or license key or otherwise make the Software available to third parties.
You may not remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices contained in the Software, such as copyright notices and trademarks.
You may not use the Software in any way that infringes applicable laws or regulations.
Termination
Your license terminates automatically if you violate any terms of this agreement.
The Licensor reserves the right to terminate your license for gross misconduct, such as but not limited to if the license key is shared to the internet, obtained through fraudulent means, or used to interfere with or otherwise compromise the integrity or security of transmissions to and from our activation servers.
If your license is terminated, you must stop using the Software and delete all copies from your computers.
Updates
The Licensor may, at its sole discretion, provide updates or patches to the Software. While we do our best to address any issues we are made aware of, the Licensor is under no obligation to provide updates, support, or maintenance.
License Activation
An internet connection is required to activate the Software. When you enter a license key, the Software connects to our activation servers with the entered license key and a cryptographically hashed machine identifier derived from your machine. We store the hashed machine identifier solely for license activation purposes and it is deleted from our servers when you deactivate the Software.
This Software connects to the internet to check for version updates and validate the Software is properly authorized in accordance with our agreement. We do not use information transmitted during these checks such as your IP address for any other purpose.
Refunds
Refund requests may be considered within 30 days of purchase if there is an issue that cannot be resolved, such as an activation issue.
System Requirements
Audio and MIDI recording is computationally lightweight. For video recording, CPU, RAM, and storage requirements vary considerably depending on your video recording configuration. For similarity calculations, we recommend a multi-core CPU with AVX2 instruction set, or Apple Silicon. Similarity calculations are more accurate when MIDI data is available and may require more processing time as the number of recordings increases. We recommend the recordings folder is located on a solid-state drive as opposed to a hard disk drive so that the application startup time remains low when the number of recordings becomes large.
AI Notation
This application includes an AI sheet music notation feature which is disabled unless you connect the application to an AI through the MCP protocol. Connecting to an AI is not necessary to use the application, but the AI notation feature will remain disabled.
If you choose to connect an AI, and then start or interact with a notation project, the application necessarily sends creative content from your notation project (such as MIDI and MusicXML data) to the configured AI for AI-assisted music transcription. For AI hosted by third-parties, visit their website to learn how your data is handled and how to opt-out of data collection and model training.
The quality of this feature depends on the quality of the connected AI. This application does not provide an AI.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction.
Changes
The Licensor may make changes to these terms from time to time. The Licensor will notify you if there are material changes made to these terms.
